6 Funky Fresh Facts

T'Ann aka T'apple tagged me to do this so I guess I will. But this is the only one that I am doing. So don't start sending me 37 of these !

1. I hate HATE baby corn. I will not eat it. It is unnatural and freaky.

2.I have never been to the hospital, except to visit others. Which if you know me at all is a pretty big deal considering how accident prone I am.

3. Continuing with the food idea, pretty much the only things I refuse to eat are lamb and veal. They are just too cute to be eaten. I will devour an ugly chicken any day of the week but I'm pretty sure the world needs more lambs.

4. The longest my toenails have gone unpainted is 4 days. Feet are too ugly not to have some polish on those vehicles.

5. I love Lawn Gnomes. They are magical! I have one at home for good luck and another on my desk. Don't cross a gnome. They will mess you up. No joking.

6.This one time I was on the radio. It was pretty sweet. I'd probably do it again. Kerry. Bill and Gina were probably three of the most interesting people you will ever meet. And they are way nicer in person. Especially if they like you.

Booker T, pictures of a bunn

Booker is cute. Here is proof:

Ikea Ideas...

We finally feel like our bedroom is finished! WE painted it a few weeks ago, and after serious deliberation we purchased a bedroom set from Ikea. Its the famous MALM. I think Malm translates as "Decorate your bedroom for $500 or less." Some reviews say that Ikea stuff is not very sturdy, I figure if it breaks in 5 years we will just buy another one. What the hell. I would rather have something I like now and won't feel guilty getting rid of when we want to change.
Our room consists of the following Ikeaness:

Side Tables:

We also added some simple hardware to the drawer fronts to give it a different look. Stuart was nice enought o put everything together. We don't assemble furniture together. Once we tried to build a desk, we almost broke up. Never again.

Here are some pictures I took, so you get the full effect. Turns out Im not a professional photographer. Deal with it.

Party at the Huka

Saturday night was a smokin good time at the Huka! (shut up, that is funny!) Tiffany, Britta and I are lucky enough to have birthdays within the same week. Blessed are we! Ha ha. Our friend Aimee was nice enough to reserve us the Zen Bar at the Huka. Good times, Good times.

Since I'm so professional at parties I totally forget to bring my camera. Here are a few photo highlights from the evening.

Happy Birthday to us!

Tiffany and Aimee

I can't beeeee leeeeeve she is drinking through a straw !!!!!

Friday night was also fun. Jake, Scott, Brett, Toma nd I went to Aristo's for dinner. Probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The food was amazing!!!! I highly recommend the Chicken ala Aristo. It is flash fried and stuffed with feta cheese and spinach over a bed of lemon rice. The Greek coffee was also delicious. If you go with Jake he can tell your fortune in the grounds at the bottom. What the hell ever. He just makes it up!

After dinner we went to Brett's to hang out for a while. Soon after arriving a strange mix of people began showing up. My personal favorite was Larry. What a gem. He looked like he hadn't showered in a week and I'm 100 percent sure we was on major drugs. But entertaining none the less. The highlight of the evening was when PReston pants Larry. Thats what you get for wearing basketball shorts to a party.

Good times! Thanks to everyone for a great birthday.

A Cheap Date Never Tasted Sooooo Good...

A woman wrote a cookbook based solely on ingredients that can be purchased at the dollar store. Oh my god. At first I was disguisted, Im not gonna lie. I think it has been at least a year since I have visited the local Dollar Tree. And I have never been brave enough to venture down the "food" aisle.

The 99 Cent Only Store Cookbook

Skeptical I checked out her website. Everyone from NPR to the LA Times loves her book. The recipes are even normal. One could even go so far as to say delicious! While we aren't lucky enough to have any 99 cent only stores in Utah, but they are all over Nevada, California and Texas. Apparently this Mecca savings even have a dairy and deli section. We're talking refrigerated perishables. Oh my hell. I think that is what would scare me the most. All I could think is "What the hell is wrong with this that makes it LESS than a dollar." One feature that I do like....THEY HAVE A WINE SECTION! I'd buy a bottle of wine for a dollar! Hell to the yes!

She even has a blog to keep you updated on the latest deals and finds. Not to mention fresh recipes.

If any of you are brave enough to give it a try here are a few recipes that she recommends:

Chicken Pot Pie

4 Individual Pies, Cost: About $9.99

2 Tablespoons Danish Creamery butter + some to grease ramekins

4 cans Picket Fence Poultry Farms chunked chicken, drained

1 teaspoon Santa Paula ground thyme

1 can Del Monte mixed vegetables drained, reserve the liquid

1 can Del Monte Whole Leaf spinach, drained

1-2 tablespoons fresh ground McCormick pepper to taste

1/8 cup Santa Paula diced dried onions soaked in the reserved mixed vegetable liquid + 3 Tablespoons Foggy Bay white wine

1 12 ounce bottle Franco-American Slow Roast chicken gravy

1 container of 10 count Pillsbury Golden Flaky biscuits

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Grease 4-(4 ½" diameter x 2 tall") ramekins

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large fry pan.

Add reconstituted onions, thyme and pepper and sauté for 1 minute.

Add chicken and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add mixed vegetables and spinach and incorporate thoroughly.

Add gravy and mix to heat through.

Remove from heat.

On a well floured surface (Romina all purpose flour) roll out each biscuit to bigger than the size of the ramekin. Line each ramekin with a biscuit using an extra half of a biscuit to line the sides to the top.

Place in heated oven and par-bake for 3-4 minutes.

Open oven door and carefully fill each ramekin to the top with the filling.

Cook another 4-5 minutes.

Open oven again and place the remaining rolled biscuits atop each pie. (1 each)

Cook until tops are golden brown.

Remove from oven and let cool about 5 minutes before eating.

Green Chile and Cheddar Scalloped Potatoes

4 servings, Cost: About $1.99

1 box Alpine Foods Cheddar Cheese Au Gratin Potatoes (other flavors will work)

2 tablespoons Danish Creamery butter

2 / 3 cup Dairy Ranch Fresh milk

1 cup Ortega diced green chilies

In a large saucepan, heat 2 cups hot water, milk, butter and sauce mix.

Stir well to combine.

Add potatoes and chilies and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer covered for 7 minutes stirring occasionally.

Remove cover and cook another 7-9 minutes. Sauce will thicken during this last cook time. Continue to stir to avoid mixture from sticking to the bottom of pan.

Remove from heat and serve.

Apple Pie

Servings:6-8 Cost: About $3.99

1 package (2 crusts) Roundy's Pie Crusts

2-20 ounce cans Polar Fuji apples, drained

¼ cup Romina all purpose flour

¼ cup C&H white sugar

½ teaspoon Santa Paula cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon Santa Paula ground ginger

Dash Encore Premium ground clove

Dash McCormick salt

2 Tablespoons Danish Creamery butter.

Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.

Place one of the frozen crusts upside down on a piece of parchment paper. As it thaws it will pull away from the pan and lie flat. This is your top crust.

While both crusts are thawing (about 20 minutes), mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, clove, and salt in a large mixing bowl.

Add apples and stir to coat evenly.

Pour apples into pie crust and place flattened crust on top.

Seal edges firmly with the tines of a fork and cut 4 slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.

Wrap tin foil around the outer edge of pie. (This will help avoid outer crust from burning.

Place on a baking sheet and cook about 30 minutes.

Remove tinfoil and continue to cook until crust is golden and juices are bubbling. About 15-20 minutes

I rule at sofball

Not really, but we did win our game.I'm not like a super kick ass manly softball player like those chicks on TV. I mean I have a pink glove, I am a lady! But I did get a little dirty and even have a bruise. I slid to second base. Well I thought I slid, Stuart described it more of a body slam. But I'm sure it was pretty professional. We kicked ass. We won 16 to 6. I think it would have been 16 to 0 but we got a little lazy in the last inning.

I'm addicted to Jelly Bellys.

Too bad I'm not addicted to something healthy, like working out or vegetables. Turns out those things aren't sugary and delicious. Hmm, what can you do. A rep brought me a can of Jelly Belly's a week or so ago. Since then I have been downing those beans like Courtney Love downs Adderall. I can't help it. They are so delicious.

My personal favorites are Peach, Juicy Pear, Red Apple and Grapefruit. I hate Sizzling Cinnamon, Licorice and Bubble Gum. GROSS.

At 4 calories per bean, I think I have devoured about 440 calories worth or beans in about 36 hours. Thats healthy.

Blog Throwback

So I was reading the comments my sister left on my last post and say out of the corner of my eye the word "farts" in the tags on my blog. Of course I was like "What! Why was I blogging about that" well after reading the post and laughing my ass off I thought I would repost it for good times sakes (that is improper grammar but I don't give a damn). I forget how funny college was.

The Roof The Roof The Roof is on Fire!

That right ya'll. I am burning through my homework faster that a skank at a fraternity party. Well not really. I kind of just told a lie. I wrote a 10 page paper and created a sweet presentation on the power point though. I still have lots to do. The Marriot Library gets creepsies at night. Wierdos be hanging out hurr. This one girl behind me apparently thinks that he constant farting is not a disturbance. Well I am here to tell you that it is. Thankfully she is packing up her pencil pouch and hopefully getting her stank ass the hell out of here.
Things that bothered me today: chubbs at the gym wearing only sports bras and no shirts, creeps at the gym walking past my head with thier short shorts all up in my grill when I am lifting weights, chatter box coffee makers at the library store... I just wanted this turkey sandwich can you converse with you beard later sir because it is obvious to me that you don't want to have sex with the womens, the guy in front of me who keeps clicking his freaking pen, and parking in pay parking because I am lazy and too tired to walk. The last one isn't my fault it is 23 degrees outside and that is far to cold to be trapsing around campus for free parking. I could get hypothermia and die.

24 never felt so old!

Ha ha . For some reason this year feels extra extra old. 24! Gheese. Then 25 ! My twenties are almost half over. My friends at work eased the pain with under the sea decorations. They are pretty professional.

LEts talk about the cake! My friend Ashley made me THE MOST ADORABLE cake I have ever gotten. Seriously. I love it. It totally tops the Barbie cake I got when I was 7. You know when your mom jams a barbies legs in the cake and then decorates the bottom to look like a ball gown. That was pretty sweet. This was even cooler!!

Stuart got me this adorable Colebrianza bag from Aldo. I love it. ( I would have posted a picture but the only one I could find was in adobe flash and I am not that professional at blogging. Can it!)

We went to Acme Burger Company on Friday with our friends Cham and Stefan. It was quite excellent. I'm not really a fan of red meat, but I really like the burgers. Its my kind of place. All the meat is organic and all the buns are freshly made at the restaurant. They have excellent margaritas. Cham and I both had two. Yum. Then we went back to thier house and hung out. Stefans suicidal fish jumped out of the tank, soared through the air and landed on the hardwood floor. Exciting!

Saturday we went shopping and then I went to some killer gay parties with my friends. I have decided that at said parties everyone likes to come up to you and yell in your face "Who are you?!" then depending on your answer they either love you or hate you. I mostly got loves. They like blonde's, so I fit right in. I took it upon my self to recruit people to drink in the tent that was setup in the back yard. It was marginally successful, but 100% fun.

Sunday Stuart helped me with my softball skills. According to him I dont suck as bad as he thought I would. I think that is a compliment. ha ha. Our first game is tonight so I will let you know how it goes!

Break My Heart !

That American Idol really knows where to hit ya. They got my money. How could I not donate! All those little kids! Even Simon was nice. I really feel like they are doing great things. So I was glad to give.

I think what really gets me is the fact that it costs so little to change lives and yet people are still suffering. But Brad Pitt was like "gimme some of your money" and I was like "Do you take Amex?" Turns out they do. Turns out Brad is hot. What can you do.

Give generously! Idol Gives Back

Sad Bunny!

Booker T has growled at me for the last time. No! He isn't dead. Calm down! Do you think I would really be able to blog if my pet bunny up and died! God! No no no. Booker T got fixed today. This will tame those raging bunny hormones and he can relax!

Turns out that Booker T is a Booker SHE!! Oh well. I still love him no matter who he is. She gets to come home this afternoon, so hopefully she will be back to her old self in no time. Sans the growling and aggressiveness. She is also getting a bunny pedicure because the nails were long! And they can scratch and dig!

In lieu if flowers please send carrot bunches to our home address.
